Woman Crush Wednesday: Hemsley & Hemsley

hemsleyFor my #WomanCrushWednesday this week, I have not one, but two awesome females.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, sisters Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley, better known as Hemsley + Hemsley are the hottest new duo to hit the cookery scene.

The uber-talented pair, who are both chefs, have gained success thanks to their awesome healthy recipes, which they feature on their website. However, the health gurus have also gained fans thanks to their fun personalities, stylish fashion choices and excellent writing skills that can be seen thanks to their blog.

In fact, the two London sisters have impressed with their writing ability, food skills and fashion sense so much that they are now also writers for Vogue and The Guardian.

Being a blogger myself, I find it really inspiring that the pair have managed to achieve so much and that is why they are my #wcw this week!

You can buy the Hemsley sisters first book ‘The Art of Eating Well’ now and  can follow them on Twitter to keep up to date with their latest news.

VIDEO: HAIM – ‘My Song 5’ ft. A$AP Ferg

So here is the new video for Haim‘s next single ‘My Song 5’.

I have to say, it’s not what I expected from the three sisters, as usually they’re all about the coolness. However, I do think the video’s funny and is a refreshing change from girls in videos wearing nothing and writhing around sexily.

This is not one of my favourite songs on the album, but that’s only because I LOVE some of their other tunes.

Check out the video and let me know what you think!

June Burts Bees event with Olivia Purvis

BB8I can’t believe it’s July already and I haven’t even had chance to write about this event yet! Time flies huh?!

So basically, last month, I headed up to London to go to the fantastic Burts Bees event with Olivia Purvis from well-known blog ‘What Olivia Did’. The purpose of the event was for Olivia to go through her best tips to stay fabulous throughout the festival season as well as show for the lovely Burts Bees peeps to show off some of their newest and most-loved products.

The event was held at the Burts Bees Pop-Up shop in London’s Monmouth Road. The shop has sadly gone now (it was only there until June), however look out for any similar shops in the future!

I got to the event a little flustered as my train was delayed, however I relaxed as soon as I walked in thanks to the lovely Burts Bees staff who greeted me and also because of the lovely prosecco they also handed to me!

There were lots of other bloggers there already trying out some of the products and I had a quick look around to see what some of the products were like. After that it was time for Olivia to come out and have a chat with us all.

She had some great tips for the festival season up her sleeve. These included taking a cheap phone, using disposable cameras and having some sensible mud-proof boots. She also recommended some of the Burts Bees products which were perfect to take to any festival. These included Burts Bees Lip Shimmer, which she said was nourishing yet pretty and the Burts Bees Aloe & Linden Flower After Sun Soother if you stay out in the sun a bit too long! The Burts Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extra were also a must, according to Olivia, to get off the days festival make-up.

After Olivia’s talk (and more prosecco) we were then allowed to try out more products and buy any that took our fancy. I went for the Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion, as well as the Almond & Milk Hand Lotion, as well as the banana version of the latter too. When buying these I was then handed a goody bag full of even more treats such as a make-up bag, two Acai Berry Lip Balms, a miniature Peppermint & Rosemary Bodywash and a miniature Honey & Grapeseed Hand Cream. It was definitely fair to say I was pleased and loaded down with goodies!

The good thing about all these products is that the ingredients are packaging are all natural as well as working great. Good work Burts Bees!

Before I went, I also got to have a quick chat with Olivia, who, to my surprise, told me that this was her first kind of event that she had done. I was really shocked considering that Olivia has been blogging for a good few years now. I told her that she should definitely do some more though and that I will definitely be attending them!

Check out some photos of the event below…

#WednesdayWisdom: Dalai Lama

wwSo I’ve noticed there’s a trend of #WednesdayWisdom going around on the internet & I’ve decided I want to get involved by sharing one of my favourite quotes each week.

This week I’ve chosen this little gem from the Dalai Lama (see right).

I agree with this quote totally as I think that life is all about having new adventures & seeing the world that we live in. I mean, why just stay in one place when they are so many different places to explore?!

I decided last year that I wanted to go on more European city breaks this year. I went to Berlin last month and am off to Rome this week!

However, it doesn’t have to be abroad. Why not just try a new restaurant that’s open instead of your usual go-to diner, or visit an exhibition that has just opened. This quote is all about not getting stuck in a rut and making sure you make the most of life and the experiences it offers.

I hope this post has inspired you a little! Let me know if you’ve had any great trips/experiences lately or what your favourite quote to live by is!

Mothers Day 2014

So today was all about the Mummies and I made sure I went all out to show how much I appreciate mine today.

I started off the day by cooking her some yummy (low fat, might I add) sausage sandwiches, then she got her presents, which included some Lindt choc, Hotel Chocolat goodies and some Sanctuary smellies. After that we took her for a countryside ride and for a pub dinner in Winchester.

It was quite packed over there and we hadn’t booked, so we found a little pub called The William Walker just around the main corner which was quite quiet. We all had a lovely chicken roast each that was extremely yummy. This came in at £10 per plate, with all the trimmings. After that, my Mum treated herself to some apple and Ameretto crumble with ice cream (which I sampled a bit of and can confirm was divine).

After this we returned home and cracked open a bottle of Prosecco to finish what was a lovely day off perfectly.

I have included some photos for you of my day below. I hope you all had fun with your Mums or loved ones and a special Happy Mothers Day to all the mummies that may be reading this!

Photo diary: Afternoon at Southsea beach

So I spent this afternoon walking around the beach of Southsea, in my hometown of Portsmouth.

The area suffered quite a bit of damage in the recent floods & bad weather, however it still looked nice in the sun when I was there today, which was good to see! The only thing that was shut off was the pier, which hopefully they can restore.

Anyway, here’s some photos which I took down there today!

Sam Blogs goes global!

globalSo I thought I’d share something with you all that I found a little bit exciting…!

When looking at my blog stats for the end of the day yesterday, I found that my blog was read in a total of seven different countries!

I know that might not sounds amazing for some, considering how many countries there are out there, but I think this is the most I’ve had so far, so it really made me happy to see that people across the world are reading my blog.

I honestly couldn’t believe that my posts are being read by people as far away as Saudi Arabia & Hong Kong! It’s crazy, but in a good way!

Of course I still appreciate everyone in the UK that reads my blog too, but I just found it exciting!

But yes, thank you to everyone reading my blog, wherever you may be!
